Michael Stearns, MD, CPC
Michael Stearns, M.D. is a board certified neurologist and certified professional coder. He has 15 years of experience in clinical and academic medicine, and is an award winning educator. He also has over 10 years of experience in health information technology and coding. For the past several years, Dr Stearns has focused on electronic health records. He has presented at several national meetings on medical terminology, electronic health records, coding, and genomic medicine. He worked with the National Institute of Health on several computers in medicine projects, and was a key contributor to the development of SNOMED CT. He is a voting member of the Health Information Technology Standards Panel, a government-sponsored project to standardize communications between health care enterprises.
